About me
Hi, I am Lianne.
I will guide and support you in navigating life's high-pressure challenges, healing from past trauma, and building stronger, more meaningful relationships.
Together, we will work toward achieving clarity and balance in both your personal and professional life. Counselling is offered in English and Mandarin, available in-person in Hong Kong and online internationally.
My Counselling Approach
Self-awareness is an essential first step, but true healing comes from taking intentional action toward a life aligned with your values and authentic self.
I view my clients as the experts of their own lives, each bringing unique experiences to our sessions. Many seek practical strategies to overcome challenges, break free from negative patterns, and find clarity in navigating life’s complexities. Together, we will uncover solutions, explore fresh perspectives, and equip you with the tools to create meaningful and lasting change.
My approach is collaborative, directive, and solution-focused. I provide a safe, supportive space to address your challenges with compassion while developing practical strategies for growth and resilience.
Trained in evidence-based modalities—including Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Person-Centred Therapy, and Schema Therapy—I tailor each session to your unique needs and goals.
Whether you’re seeking relief, clarity, or meaningful personal growth, I am here to guide and support you on your journey.
You may find parts of my story familiar. Like many, I once set aside my passion to follow societal expectations. Growing up in Taiwan, I was deeply fascinated by psychology and dreamed of becoming a clinical or research psychologist. During my undergraduate studies in the U.S., my professors encouraged me to pursue advanced studies in the field. Yet, like so many others, I allowed the belief that psychology wasn’t a “practical” career to steer me off course. Playing it safe, I double-majored in Psychology and Economics, convinced this combination would lead to a more secure future.
After graduation, I began my career in investment banking, starting in New York City before moving to Sydney and then Hong Kong. Immersed in the high-stakes world of finance, I quickly gained firsthand experience of the immense pressures professionals face in demanding environments. I managed complex transactions, navigated intense deadlines, and juggled competing priorities. On the surface, I appeared successful. But beneath the polished exterior, I was struggling. The relentless stress, sleepless nights, and constant pressure to perform left me feeling trapped and unfulfilled. Burnout hit hard, and I often found myself in tears—overwhelmed by anger, resentment, and helplessness. Eventually, I was forced to confront a difficult question: Was this the life I truly wanted?
With the unwavering support of my husband, I made the life-changing decision to leave finance and return to my original passion. I pursued a Master of Counselling from Monash University, a pivotal step that allowed me to realign my career with my love for psychology and my deep desire to help others.
I began my counselling career as a school counselor in bilingual International Baccalaureate (IB) schools in Hong Kong. In this role, I supported students and families navigating the pressures of high-achievement environments. Through individual counselling, parenting strategies, and stress-management workshops, I helped parents and children bridge gaps in understanding and align their goals. Supporting students in building resilience and helping families foster greater connection was incredibly fulfilling.
Today, as a private practitioner in Hong Kong, I work with adults facing challenges such as anxiety, trauma, grief, relationship struggles, and significant life transitions—whether it’s gaining independence, adjusting to parenthood, managing career changes, or cultivating more meaningful relationships.
Having grown up in Taiwan, studied overseas, and lived in multiple countries, I deeply understand the unique challenges faced by individuals from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds. My personal experience with burnout and navigating high-pressure environments allows me to connect with my clients on a meaningful level. I am passionate about helping others find clarity, balance, and fulfillment in their lives.
